Welcome to the Kitchen Table, a podcast about where business is done. So pull up a chair and join your host, Ken Baden.
Welcome back to another episode of the kitchen table where business gets done. I'm your host, Ken Baden. And today we have actually, I think you're a full-time surgeon or something like that, right?
Ken Baden
That's true. Yes.
Dr. Mary Robinson
So like, that's actually more impressive to me than even the entrepreneur side of things. But, uh, we have Mary Robinson here from I'm assuming her break on surgery, so that's right. I appreciate that you took the time to come in here and record this podcast. But, um, and of course now I feel even worse for like holding you up this morning, but I'm like, I'm pretty sure she's doing something really busy. But, uh, so we have an actual surgeon in the house today, but that's not why she's here. She's here to talk about Ave. That's right. And her line of scrub caps. I called it a hat like an idiot, but it's, it's for, I'm assuming like anyone and everyone, in the medical field, surgeons, nurses. So first and foremost, how are you doing today?
Ken Baden
Excellent. I'm so happy to be here. This is exciting. Have you been on a podcast before? I've never been on a podcast. This is your first podcast? Yes, it is. So thank you so much for having me.
This is exciting. I'm honored to be your first podcast experience and your host, but I'm also excited to talk about Ave because as an entrepreneur, I love like the fashion. We had, what was that young man's name? Flawless detail, no. Flawless detail is a whole nother, but that is another business. Flawless Breezy has a line of clothes, a friend of his, that's a very big staple in the Annapolis community. But just the clothing world in itself is something I think is so cool. I mean, I'm really interested in fashion and I try to like mix it up, but it's just actually committing to that. And I mean, where did you even get the idea? Being a surgeon, being so busy that you're like, you know what? I want to add to my plate. Where'd that come from?
Very true question, but I'll tell you how it came about. So, you know, as a surgeon, I wear scrub caps probably anywhere between 10 to 12 hours a day. Okay. And I've been doing that since 2007 or so, right? So I spent a lot of time in scrub caps. And after about maybe, I think maybe it was maybe about 10 years or so, give or take a go, I started really getting into Silk and the benefits of silk for hair and skin. It's a natural product. I have like silk pillowcases. I ordered a silk scarf and I would try to like sleep in it. But I would, every day, I would do this two-step process in the morning. I would, when I got to work, put on my scrubs and then I would tie this silk scarf around my hair and then put the scrub cap on top of it. Cause scrub caps are like typically made of like cotton and for polyester.
Standard stuff you probably see in like the scrubs and stuff.
Exactly right. Exactly. And so when I started doing that, I noticed that my, my hair was started, it started growing. It started, it was much healthier, felt cleaner. It was, you know, it just kind of thrived. Right. So, and flourished. So it just kind of along with, you know, the, the data and, and kind of what it was looked as for hair and skin. And so at that time I was probably, you know, pregnant or just had my first child. I have three young children. And I was thinking, gosh, I wish, you know, every day I would say, oh, I wish somebody would just invent something like this where I wouldn't have to do this two-step process anymore, you know? And so this thought came every, you know, every couple of days, I would have the same thought for years and years and years. And last year, I was, I had to take a little break from surgery because I had surgery myself. So I, I was home for a few weeks and I actually had the time to sit and actually have my, I say birth my fourth child, which is the Ame. And so I started the ball rolling. I started the groundwork. I started researching. I started doing all the, you know, getting the, getting it off the ground. And, and here we are a year later almost. And so.
Two weeks was the time that you had.
Three weeks. Yeah. Three weeks. And it was just, I just need that much time just to really kind of hone in on, you know, kind of analytical as much as possible of like what each step I needed to kind of attack, uh, in order to, um, launch this business. Um, and then from there, you know, okay. finding out who's like the best in this area, who's, you know, or trying to, or just who I vibe with, you know. And so there was just, or who shared the same ideals and kind of mirrored what I wanted to represent or what I wanted the lines to represent and incorporate. there was, you know, interviewing, there was emailing there, you know, all those things. And I kind of, I was able to assemble a fantastic team. Um, and, uh, yeah, so we're just kind of, we're small, but we're trying to get off the ground here and I'm really excited about it. So, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
This is a, I'm just, I'm going to go back to, I've NLP, all the science behind why people make the decisions that they make. For me, first of all, my whole background is in sales, and then sales management, and then sales VP, and then entrepreneur. And I've been the victim of serial entrepreneurship many, many times. And we all share very similar characteristics, and we're almost like this cliche archetype. And when I think about, when I listen to you, and I see how well you're put together, I can only imagine like the details and the focus that have to go into being a surgeon. And I'm like thinking the whole time, like, she's almost the antithesis in that, like, typically we're very statistically and just, you know, just what I've seen, like unorganized, but very high, like, are you familiar with the DISC method? No. It's a Myers-Briggs, all that stuff. It's just, it's a personality test that you can have employees you know, with surgeons, it's, you've got to pass, you know, all this school and all these things where, you know, there's all these barriers for entry. Whereas like, we'll have folks take that just to, you know, see, is this a cliche, if you will, salesperson. And if so, it just tells you their propensity to be that because you can also have somebody who's like really high I N D because that's what it is. It's an acronym D I S C and each of them stand for like driver or dominant, uh, influence or, uh, Yeah, influences typically. And then what's the S is more like systems, C, compliant, or think like you're engineer. Like I assign, I think S, I think military. I think C, I think engineer. I think a high I, high D. D is gonna be much more dominant, fearless, you know, no, like how risk averse would you say you are? I'm just curious. I wanna like dive into this.
It depends on what you're referring to. you know, as, you know, when you, as a surgeon, when I do, I have to be really baldy every day. Okay. So, so, so it's, I've got people's lives on my hand. I've got, you know, you, you can create great good, but also a great harm with any small little mishap, right. Or miss something. Right. So there's already, you know, kind of that I'm ringing to it. That is a typical amazing point by the way.
So you're probably like off, you're probably 99 D cause you're right. You're, you've got to be fearless. You're literally operating on people. One, you don't have any room for error.
There's no room for error. Exactly. Exactly. However, because with that responsibility, with that, it comes with a lot of responsibility and, um, And so you have to kind of balance it. I mean, if you're, if you're asking me like my, like, um, how, how risk averse I am, how risky I am with, with like investments, I'm a little bit more conservative, I would say.
So that's why I was saying, but your answer was amazing because if you answer one way, like, well, yeah, with like, typically with money and investments, I'm going to be much more, which, you know, you're, I don't know, again, your cliche, like entrepreneurs, like F it, send it, let's go. And that either ends really well or really bad. But like, you kind of have to have some of that, but perhaps what you don't have there, you make up for every day in that like, yeah, okay, well over here, I'm more cautious, but over here, I literally have to take people's lives into my hands every single day. So actually I could totally see, cause I'm trying to figure out, I'm like, is this person, it sounds like to me, And this might not be interesting to anybody, but I love what makes people tick and just like what drove someone who's already got this, got three children, a surgeon, like you have a career that is a very small percentage of the population get to do or ever reach those heights. And it just, I want you guys to see, you know, the, the, the, what goes into entrepreneurship or just the types of folks that reach success. I mean, so by all standards, you've already reached success and reaching, you know, being a, you're already in that top 1%. I can only imagine both in what you make, but also too, like what you do, you know what I mean? You're at the heights of your career. You're a surgeon, all that schooling, all those things, all that discipline that it took to get there. You get three weeks off, three weeks. Like some people take three years to put an idea together and finally get the ball rolling on jumping in and going feet first into an investment or their own business, three weeks. And it's like, I don't know, it's so interesting to me that someone like you, what I would imagine is like a high D, like very like, let's go. I wanna be, I mean, you're very well put together, you're in shape, you're like, just take all these things in. That translates into every other aspect of life. And then that person, give them three weeks to sit on their couch and they start a business. Like that is just so fascinating to me. Like, cause I wanted to know like where you're a surgeon. Are you just like a glutton for punishment?
Sort of, I guess. I do tend to over pile on too much onto myself, but, um, but it's, yeah. Are you back to surgery? Yes. Yes.
Back to surgery and now you have a business on top of it. Where do you find the time?
So I, um, I started, I take off, speaking of today, that's why I wasn't worried about, on Wednesdays, I actually take a day on Wednesdays. So I am working four days a week. I don't take call anymore, which is, you know, hugely helpful as far as- Something happened, you need to come in at 2 a.m. No, exactly. So I definitely have a much more control over my schedule at work. So that's helpful, that's one. And, I just, I wanted to do something I was passionate about. And another thing is I'm just kind of looking long game, right? I love what I do. And I, as you stated, made a lifetime of sacrifices to be what I am and to get here. But I also can see a different vision where I have a little bit more freedom of movement because when I'm not at work, I don't make any money, right? It's one of those things, it's like, you know, you kind of, you eat what you kill basically, right? And so exactly, exactly. And so I wanted something that offered me a little more freedom. I've got three children, beautiful children, you know, and I want to be able to, um, have a little bit more freedom in, I don't want to stop doing what I do, what I do, maybe reduce, you know, a little more time there, but have something else to grow into, a legacy to build, and something that I'm passionate about. It kind of ties, as you said, I love fashion too. I, you know, this is something I love, you know, even in residency, I remember people saying, you know, we'd have to round it, like, 5 a.m. and like, how are you, Mary, how are you here with lipstick on at five in the morning? And so it was just like, I took the extra effort and I was like, they're like, oh, when you have kids, you'll be, you know, you'll be, it'll be different, I'm sure. And I know it is just one of those things that I just take pride in that. And, you know, we all like, you know, when we take pride in our health and our, you know, ourselves, it makes a difference on everything, right? Right. And so I just want to, this is something I feel, you know, nobody paid attention to has ever paid attention to this space. Okay. These are people that in the healthcare community that have probably some of the scarce time for self-care, okay? So this is a way to remind them of who they are, of like, you know, yes, I do want to, go out, have drinks after work and not look crazy, you know, be somewhat put together. I don't wanna have to cancel on, you know, going to dinner or going to this event because I know I'm gonna have to go home and do this whole number and it's gonna, you know, I'm already drained or exhausted. Cause it does make a difference. It's all those little things. add to the person and the personal experience in their life and, and enjoy and all those things. So, or even just want to go home, but you know, like I, like I did something for myself all day. I was working, I was grinding, you know, showing up and guess what? I'm also getting fed back into, I'm doing something for me, you know? And so just giving a little piece of that to people that, It's a field of service, whether you're a doctor or a nurse, if you're a scrub tech, a veterinarian, there's so many people that use this product day in and day out that nobody's really paid attention to or done anything about. So it was just, it's something small, but I feel like it could be something that could make an impact, make a positive impact on a lot of people.
this is so much deeper than I, I mean, I thought this is, Hey, this is cool. I love that, you know, adding like a sense of fashion, but there's actually a practical nature to this. And I want to dive into that in a second, but I do want to just point out how powerful what you just said, you know, I told Roger and all the folks that I train and, you know, I've been, I've got a coaching company, a sales company, you know, and we're going to Texas Friday to do an event. Uh, you know, for a group of blue collar business owners, you know, that's kind of the space that, you know, it's my niche and I dress like this. Right. And they're always like, started just in like something I did on Mondays to present myself in front of my team. But I would do that because I always had this vision of like, when I made it, so to speak, I'm going to be, this is, this is what I envisioned when I made it. And so I wanted to step into that immediately and own that, like how powerful it is to like, you know, it feels good to present yourself a certain way. It tells, I think it tells everyone around us like how much we care, not about ourselves in like an egotistical way, but like, Hey, I invest in me and I care about me. And subsequently you should too, right? Like you should, I should be taken seriously. I value myself. I value my time. You're taking the time hours before school or work that goes into presenting yourself a certain way, that individual, is to be taken, even that alone in so many ways is going to separate you from either competition or whatever, whatever it is, like you're going to stand out as like, holy crap, this person is on another level. You know what I mean? Like, I'm sure that's been, like you said, people are like, how are you here with lipstick on? It's five in the morning and I can just see again how you present yourself. You're super professional. Immediately you're going to be taken like this person is, it doesn't, you don't even have to know what you do. to know that this person is to be taken seriously. And so I just, there's so much power that goes into how you present yourself, regardless of it's suit, tie, whatever, or just like fashionable. I love that she said that. And I, I couldn't agree more. I mean, that's a big staple of I mean, I get this all the time, like, dude, you're in roofing. Yeah. Obviously I'm not going to wear this to go do, you know, I don't physically do roofing, but like, even if I was to sell a roof, I probably wouldn't wear this. I'd wear our uniform. Right. But like presenting to my people anywhere I'm anywhere I'm outside of that space. This is how I present when I present on the stage to other blue collar, but this is how I, this is what I see when I see success and how I feel. when I think about success and that is what's important. And then going back to, I just thought that was just, I want people to hear that because if you're not investing in you or you're wondering like, how are some, what are some things I can do to really put myself over if you're in a sales room or anywhere you are, like try investing in yourself first. How do you look? How are you, you know, how are you taking care of yourself physically? What are you eating? The sleep you get, you know, just putting time to do your hair and trim your nails and grooming habits, self-care, all these things. You could get really busy, I'm sure, as surgeons, as doctors, and it's like, you just, things go away. And you feel bad about yourself, you know? I know how it feels, like, you know, even just like, you know, I don't shave for a few days or my nails get like, you feel- You feel it, right?
Yes, 100%. You feel it.
So that is so powerful. So that angle is, way deeper than just like, hey, this is a cool looking scrub cap. The silk though, tell me about that, the advantages of that, the health benefits. What's that all about?
Sure, that's a great question. And that's actually what separates our line from any other line on the market or any other scrub cap on the market. So silk, the benefits is it's one of like the strongest material, it is the strongest natural material fabric or textile. One of the oldest that maintains its strength. It, you may, like I've done aerial silk or like Cirque de Soleil shows, it's all silk, right? The strength of how much it can, it's so strong, but it is so soft. And I think it's just beautiful, right? And so- Mm-hmm. And so the, the benefits to like hair and skin. So it actually is proven it, it reduces, you don't have as much friction on the hair. So it reduces like split ends. Um, also it doesn't pull moisture from the hair. It actually balances it and enhances it. So normal fabrics, cotton, you know, anything, you know, anything. it'll extract moisture from your hair and your skin. When I started doing, like I started with like pillowcase, pillowcases, I immediately noticed a difference. Like your skin care, you put a moisturizer on your skin, you lay down at night and it just like soaks into the pillow. I would see, Cause I sleep on one side too. I would see the difference, you know, and so it would just, but then when I started using the silk, there was no difference. I didn't, I didn't, I woke up and I was, I'm like, okay, it didn't pull out all that I put into my skin or all that I was trying to do. You know, obviously it's little things here and there at that time, but. there's a difference. And so, and also it combats, because it combats over dryness, it combats wrinkles and early wrinkling and all those things for the skin. And then the hair is just less friction, less drying. Silk is also very, it's like self cooling. So in the winter, It's, you know, or in the summer, the summer especially, you're not gonna feel that heat. It's not like satin, which people confuse it. There are some products that have satin inside of them. And that's better than cotton, I would say, but nowhere near, not at all the same benefits of silk. And a lot of the satin, most of them are satin blends that have like polyesters and all these other things in them, which are gonna, you know, over time snag and cause these same issues, right? So, you know, silk is, you know, it's cooling, it's temperature regulating. So in the winter, it's, you're not gonna be cold. And, you know, it's, so that's one of those things that's amazing. It is like, it reduces like, you know, It's kind of like a naturally antibacterial. So, um, it's super important. Yeah, exactly. So, you know, it keeps your hair cleaner and your skin clean, everything that it touches. Right. Um, so there's like so many benefits there. So the inside lining of every AVE cap is lined with this silk. be, you know, when we're in surgery or whoever, whatever you're doing with your scrub cap, a lot of times we sweat, you know? And so, you know, there's typically most, most scrub caps I've ever, everyone I've ever owned has a sweat band on the inside for that. But it's terry cloth, you know, that's not the, you know, it's like kind of scratchy. I have my terry cloth behind the silk. So nothing touches your skin besides, exactly. And the outer layer of every Ave cap is made with our proprietary blend fabric. It's moisture wicking. It's got excellent breathability. I've had friends and colleagues that are kind of testing out the caps and like, especially the guys are like, you know. I just assumed cause it's like too late. I was going to be hot or, you know, it wasn't going to be the, but they're like, wow, I'm the first day I didn't take my cap off and I felt, you know, I didn't feel high. It was, it was kind of impressive, you know? And so, um, I, I'm, I'm really excited about it. Um, it's got a lot of great, great positives. So that's the, that's the thing with silk.
I mean, a proprietary brand on the outside means you took the time to create a blend. So that took, you took the time to meet with, um, And again, is it, there's no way, or is it three weeks?
Is that all done in three weeks? No, no, no. The playbook, I guess, was developed in three weeks, I would say. But then being that this is what I do on Wednesdays, right? Wednesday is my focus of my Ave. You know, I am Ave all day Wednesdays. I get the kids to school. AVE Wednesdays. So Wednesday's the day, the mommy day, they call it. I take them to school that day. And then after they drop off, until I pick them up, it's like meeting after meeting after meeting, you know, it's like this, you know. And so obviously, yeah, yeah. And so it's been like that for a year. And so that's how we're where we are now. That is so impressive.
A proprietary blend, meaning that that is an exclusive blend that they came up with. I can't imagine the amount of time, like meetings, the thought, knowing just in the short time I've known you, the amount of thought that had to have gone into like, okay, what do we need this to do? We need it to breathe, we need it to be strong, we need it to be, but I love- Something you throw in the washing machine. I was gonna say, I mean, you have to be able to, right?
Yeah, exactly.
I mean, that's a stupid question.
No, no. I mean, I throw this in there. Yeah. I mean, that was important to like, I'm like, I'm practical. I, you know, I've got three kids. Like I don't have time to hand wash things. So, so, you know, yes, you can, you can put it on in the washing machine. It's better to be on delicate cycle, of course, but, and just hang it to dry, let it air dry.
It's yeah. Your market is, you know, obviously doing okay. So like from a cost perspective, but just, you know, what would one, how many would a doctor or a nurse or whomever, like how many would they be in theory? Like, is this something, I mean, like they get a couple and they could just kind of rotate through or.
Yes. Um, that's typically style thing.
Like it's up to you.
Sure. And that's actually the fun thing about, um, One element that I did introduce to the market is creating, and Rojay knows this, he was just talking a little bit about this different styles. I introduced a couple of new styles to the market that are a little more fashion forward in the focus of, it's more with how it ties, but something very, very unique that is, right, exactly, yeah. So that's fun. So I, you know, to answer your question, Yes, typically I would say, you know, I would probably have a good, you know, three favorites, three or four favorites. And I would just rotate those. And after they get all worn down and, you know, it gets another, you know, another year or so later, a year or two later, I get another set of, you know, we we'd have like, you know, There's a lady that would post up outside the hospital with a table and just kind of walk, okay, I'll buy a couple, you know? So it was kind of easy to get those. And they weren't very expensive, you know, but they were just straight plain cotton, you know, just kind of the normal cotton stuff. But yeah, yeah.
What? So, you know, this is something that's marketed across vets, surgeons, all the industries that I would imagine, like if you wear scrubs, this is an accessory to that, correct?
So there are some industries where you wear scrubs, so you don't need to have a scrub cap on. However, yeah, that's exactly right.
So most of it's probably going to be like, but I, anyhow, I don't know, maybe I'm getting too deep into this, but I'm just thinking like, you know, marketing prep, but that's neither here nor there, I guess, but. Yeah, well, I'm already taking on like, you know, who we're presenting this to, what's our demo.
No, yeah, of course. I mean, yes, exactly. I mean, there's, there's a lot of people that wear scrub caps. If you do like a dentist, like that's a huge community. Um, there, you know, it's, it's going to be, you know, you're going to be wearing scrubs most of the time. Folks doing the work.
Is that like a surgeon, the dentists or nurses or like somebody who's getting in there? Like if you have to wear scrubs in the workplace, but you're like, front of the house type deal. Probably not going to need to wear it, but like doing some work.
Yes, exactly. Exactly. Exactly. Exactly.
Cause I just went to the vet myself. Unfortunately, many times my two dogs have been like, but that's a whole nother story, but I don't see, but I'm like, you know what?
I bet in the back. Does any of those, anybody doing it like doing the work? Yeah. Yeah. You want to have it back and you want to have it protected, protect your hair.
I want to go back to the whole, the idea that, but your hair.
Like, right? Like your skin for sure. Yes. Yeah. Your hair and your, your hair. And it's like one of those things, it's like, it's like women, right?
Like, and I'm selling this for you cause I'm interested, but it's just like, you know, again, this is exhibit a very well put together and like, I would imagine it's rough on your hair, it's rough on your skin, wearing those scrub caps, just like sweating. Even men, like, dude, I would care.
I would care. I'd be all over that.
Look, you're talking O3's best hair, first of all. 2003's best hair, Thomas Stone, class O3, best hair, dual superlatives.
Life has a way of knocking you down, but I came back.
But at any rate, still obviously care about you know, I would care. I would care if, especially if it was like, Hey, wearing this scrub cap, like hurts your hair or you might even make you go bald. Any of these things are things I'd be like, no, I'm not.
We got to figure something out. So it helps with stuff like that. The hairline. I mean, and like I said, I personally like, you know, cause it goes on, it goes down to here, you know, our caps. And so all the forehead wrinkling, all those things, like all everything, like It's something that we all care about. That's important to all of us. So yeah.
And the silk helps with all of that.
It does. It does. It naturally helps with all of that.
a phenomenal thing. That is to me. That's the status. I mean the style for sure. And I saw that like when I first saw the product just from a fashion point, I was like, okay, cool.
It looks cool.
Like trying to bring some fashion to a place where it's like none.
Right. Exactly.
Unfortunately, I'm just being real, but no, it's true. Absolutely. Like I, I dated a me moons ago and now she's an actual RN, but either way, it's just scrubs, scrubs, scrubs, scrubs, scrubs, scrubs. And like the most fashion, I guess you get was like, you know, I don't know, maybe some Marvel scrubs or like, I don't know. They had different colors or something. Like it's the same fabric, same stuff.
Same thing. Yeah. So we talked about this all about the shoes. Really?
I would imagine because you're on your feet all day. That was my next question is, I mean, like, I know this is definitely focused on and you strike me as the type that like, until you freaking perfect. one thing you're probably not going to jump on, which is the smartest thing you can do, by the way.
Trust me.
Don't, you know, I'll jump around quick. And I'm like, well, this thing here is pretty good. Let's jump over here. And this thing will just keep being really good. You know what I mean? Like this focus on getting this as good as possible, then move on. Having said that we talked about this pre-show, but just curious, like on your thought processes to expanding into other accessories or scrubs or any thoughts on that for the future at all.
I don't think that I would want to go into scrubs themselves. I think that market is, has been pretty well covered. I mean, there's some big names that are, you know, rocking it and great fits on. I mean, there's nothing to improve on. I, I, I want, I want to something I believe in that I can make a difference in an impact in the comedian industry. So I think scrubs have been, are covered. I think, you know, now they're, they're much better than, they've got nice fits and different styles. You don't like, you know, everyone doesn't look like they're wearing like a shirt and like oversized pants anymore, you know? So that, I think that, that market has been pretty well covered. But you know, other accessories, other things, who knows? I'm, I'm kind of laser focused on this right now. We're early. We're about to launch.
So I'm like, we'll have to wait and see if you get another week off.
Yeah, exactly. She's got a handbag a week. That's all she needs. That's hilarious. Yeah. Yeah. So we'll see. We'll see. I've got, um, I've been, I've been off a big part of the apple here, so I've got a lot to chew. So yeah, exactly. So this fall. Yeah. Yeah. So pretty getting, getting ready.
Hopefully the next making and we're launching this fall.
Yeah. Yeah.
So we, we got a post like what, How can, is that, are we ready for that? We post like, where can people find that? Where can they purchase it? All those things.
So, um, we're, we're just perfecting the website where we've, I just, you know, speaking of being like nitpicking little things. So I've probably gone back and forth with my producer. He's like probably pulling his hair out. But I'm like, ah, this little thing here. No, this little thing is not right. This little thing is, you know, any sense. Okay, I got it. I got it. I'm like, nope, nope. So we finally, after, I mean, my room upstairs is swimming in scrub cats. I've had hundreds because we've been trying to get each, I want each style perfect. I want each little thing. Very perfect. So as perfect as it could be. So we are finally there, like the last batch. I'm like, yes. So now we're ready to do our product photography. Get that on the website. Start exactly. I was just talking to Roger about that just a second ago. So we are, you know, we're finally there. Um, and so once that gets, we get that, get that, um, and like that on the website, we're, we're ready. Yes.
I'm excited. Within even just a few days.
Um, I guess it depends on the scheduling is probably the most difficult thing because this will be edited and all of that.
I really want to slide that in here. So first of all, are you on social media? LinkedIn, anything?
I'm on LinkedIn. I'm on social media. Yes, I am. But I have not developed my Aave cap accounts. So I actually, one of my really great friends, she's a periodontist and she has gum surgery. And so she's like, I'm coming over. She's traveling. She's like, I'm coming over. we're going to, I'm going to, you know, bring a bottle of wine and we're going to get all your accounts opened, you know? And so she's really into that, you know? And so, um, it's, it's funny.
I have, I used to love, you know, like be into it and then just personal brand, you know, and I, who knows, this could be a, I've paid a whole lot of money and a whole lot of coaching and some good, some just totally learning I guess how to sell to people like me, you know what I mean? But all that being said, they say, you know, it's significantly easier to build a personal brand than it is a business. And you've got look, you know what I mean? You've got the, I'm telling you just something to think about. I'm powerful.
Like, yeah. Yeah.
Everything we just said, especially with this, like just, you know, I don't know. I wouldn't, it wouldn't hurt anything.
You know what I mean?
Like you being the face of that is powerful. If I could give any two cents and just kind of like, again, they say that people identify with people as opposed to like a brand. And anything, if you successfully brand yourself, anything that, but I think Abe itself is so unique. But Abe and Mary Robinson, like this fierce put together, I took three weeks off and built this, you know what I mean? Like that's a story, you know, that's something I can get behind and a lot of folks can, but also too, I want to make sure people can find this product and get you, you know, so if you want it now, pre-launch, obviously you're gonna have to wait, but LinkedIn, are you on LinkedIn?
I am. Okay. Um, at least there's a start there. Yes. I mean, I'm on Instagram. I'm on Facebook. Um, but I, but I personally, you or something like that. Yeah. I see what you're saying. Um, I could get that going like probably within a week. Absolutely.
We're able to do that. I'd like to put that in the show notes. Perfect. Like the comments. Um, because Yeah. Well, by the time we edit this, get it out maybe next week, at least somewhere we will be doing you and frankly, the viewers a disservice that we didn't give them somewhere to go.
Absolutely. Hey, absolutely. I think that's a great idea. Absolutely. Absolutely. Thank you. Yeah, no, you're very welcome.
I mean, this is this they want to. find out, you know, where they can purchase this. That's what we want to give them. So we'll get you guys, uh, we'll put it in either the show notes or the comments on every single one of these, uh, the reels YouTube, but definitely the long form will be on YouTube. So we'll make sure we put that information in here. She's Mary Robinson. She's the brand, but the brand is obviously Ave and we'll get you guys somewhere within the week. By the time this airs, we'll even probably put a little thing right here as I'm showing it where you guys can click on. And if not, we don't have enough time, then you're just gonna see me doing this. And that's okay too, but we'll put it in the notes somewhere, somehow too, on all of the Spotify, all the streaming platforms or show notes.
Yeah. If it's not there this week, it will be there in the future. Yes, yes, yes.
We'll get it there, we'll get it there for sure. Jump on, if you wanna reach out, again, the power of, if somebody wanted to reach out to me about a roof or something, just say, I'm kenvaden at, or Instagram, or official Ken Baden on Instagram, reach out to me, DM me. Heck, if you DM me, I'll make sure I get you to marry into Ave, and we'll make sure we get it done. But awesome brand, awesome product, awesome person. Honestly, I wasn't sure exactly what to expect. I thought we were talking fashion, but I'm blown away. It's such an interesting dynamic. Just everything about what's gone into, even just the inception of this. You know what I mean? It's just powerful, man. I mean, I'm just really, really impressed with everything about you. I mean, humbling. Thank you. Seriously. I mean, you've just, I mean, the whole story, it's awesome. Like three weeks off surgeon. Like I think it's, and I know, I don't know intimately, but I actually did try, like I have a tailor and, uh, I was like, I want to do a t-shirt brand and all this. And even just a little bit of time I put into like, well, we got to get the fabric and like, He started bringing me shirts to try and like this didn't fit right. That didn't fit right. I didn't like this. I didn't like, I was just like, I don't have time for this, man. So I can only imagine how much it's gone.
It's true. That's how I ended up getting our proprietary blend because they were sending me samples of this. So I'm like, I don't like this too. uh, stretchy. This is too rough. This is like, can we just make her, he's like, we could just make, I'm like, yes, let's, let's do that. And so here we are. Yeah. Yeah. So it's amazing.
The amount of time, effort and energy. I think it's a absolutely amazing. Again, she's Mary Robinson. The brand is Ave and it is out this fall or the time this episode is released. It might actually be fall. Not now, but it might be next week. But at any rate, this fall, hard launch. She's gonna get to dialing in the specifics on the website and all of that. We'll make sure it's in here. And you guys, you gotta check it out. If you are a nurse, doctor, veterinarian, anyone that wears scrub caps, I mean, look, if you can zoom in on this, look at the difference between us two. I need to put some silk on here.
but get a cap. You're good. Yes, yes, yes. They are cool looking.
I think so. Look, check out the pictures. Check out the photos.
We'll put all that on here.
But Mary, I'm so impressed by you. I love your story. I love this.
Thank you so much for coming on and taking the time. Thank you for having me. Truly, truly.
It's an absolute honor. And I hope you guys take advantage of this, jump out there and let's kick her off strong. You know what I mean? Like support, get it going. and let's make this thing happen and support an awesome brand. All right, guys, thank you so much, and we'll see you next time.
